Parental Support Coaching St Albans and London
Is it the child that needs therapy or the parent needs parental support coaching?
What is Parental Support Coaching?
Are you a perfect parent, or have you, like many parents, arrived here to seek support?
As new parents, we are quite often shocked at the dichotomy of emotions we experience in the early months of parenthood, especially when we may not have a lot of input or borrowed experience from our own parents. Our feelings go from sheer joy and happiness to fear and worry within hours.
‘The sign of great parenting is not the child’s behaviour. The sign of truly great parenting is the parent’s behaviour.’ – Andy Smithson
Why is that? It’s because we’re biologically programmed to focus our whole being on nurturing our children to ensure they survive and thrive. We worry about their first coughs, sneezes and sleepless nights, often for no logical or obvious reason. Frankly, we were not provided with a parenting manual when they were born and our fears can run out of control. The ensuing stress can have a direct, negative impact on a child’s mental health.
‘It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves that will make them successful human beings.’ – Sunitaa
Where a child’s issues have already developed, TMC coaches can provide help and support to enable the parent to best deal with the issue for both themselves and the child and also methods that they can directly help the child with.
TMC believes that empowering parents in this way, intervention with the child is often not necessary.
